New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer and leader, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has engaged key stakeholders of the party in the Ashanti Region in a strategic brainstorming session following the conclusion of the party’s national executive elections.
The meeting, held on Sunday afternoon at the Longford Event Centre in Kumasi, brought together a wide range of party stalwarts, including founding members, members of the Council of Patrons, former and current Members of Parliament, members of the Council of Elders, former Chief Executive Officers of state agencies, and former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

The engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen the party’s internal structures and lay the foundation for a united and effective campaign ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Bawumia Calls for Greater Stakeholder Involvement
Dr. Bawumia urged the stakeholders to deploy their experience, expertise, skills and political influence to support the party’s reorganisation and mobilisation efforts.
He stressed the need for the NPP to enter the 2028 election cycle as a united, disciplined and well-organised political force.
According to him, winning the next election would require strong grassroots mobilisation and active participation from party members and stakeholders at all levels.
He therefore challenged the participants to take greater ownership of activities within their respective constituencies and operational areas, while working to address apathy and internal dissatisfaction that could undermine the party’s electoral prospects.
Stakeholders Raise Concerns
Briefing the media after the closed-door meeting, the NPP Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku, described the engagement as productive.
He said Dr. Bawumia shared his broader vision for the party and explained how the expertise and experience of stakeholders could contribute to policy implementation should the NPP return to power in 2028.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to openly discuss concerns relating to the party’s organisational structure, grassroots mobilisation and regional strategy.
Dr. Bawumia responded to questions and welcomed suggestions and constructive criticism from the participants.
Quarterly Consultations Agreed
A major outcome of the meeting was an agreement to institutionalise the stakeholder engagements on a quarterly basis.
Dr. Bawumia endorsed a proposal by the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, for similar meetings to be held every three months.
The quarterly engagements are expected to provide a platform for party leaders and regional stakeholders to assess progress, identify challenges and refine strategies ahead of the 2028 elections.
Earlier, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah urged party stalwarts to remain actively involved in the affairs of the NPP.
He encouraged them to continuously share their experience and ideas with regional, constituency and polling station executives to promote coordination and ensure that the party’s structures remain aligned at all levels.
