Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has officially handed over the Ministry of Defence to newly appointed substantive Defence Minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei.

Dr Ato Forson had served as acting Defence Minister for about a year following the death of the substantive minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.

At a handover ceremony held on Thursday, August 14, Dr Ato Forson and Mr Adjei signed the necessary documents to formally complete the transition.

In his remarks, Dr Ato Forson congratulated Mr Adjei on his appointment and assured him of his support as he takes on the new responsibility.

Officials and staff of the Ministry of Defence attended the ceremony and joined the outgoing and incoming ministers for photographs to mark the transition.

Mr Adjei has now assumed full responsibility for the ministry and will oversee its affairs as the substantive Defence Minister.
