The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched an intensified security operation to manage traffic and prevent crime across the region as the Christmas season approaches.

The initiative aims to ease anticipated congestion on roads while boosting efforts to track and apprehend criminals seeking to exploit the festive period. Police say the overarching goal is to ensure a safe and incident-free holiday for residents and visitors alike.

Speaking at a memorial service on December 10 honoring fallen officers, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto urged the public to assist the police by providing timely and credible information that could lead to arrests.

He also called on the media to engage constructively with law enforcement, emphasizing that cooperation is crucial for maintaining peace and security.

On the rising concerns over traffic and crime, DCOP Akoto stated:
“Traffic is a worrying trend in the Ashanti Region, especially in Kumasi, and we are committed to controlling it. During the festive season, robbers often take advantage of the situation, so we have deployed additional officers to protect the town and the region. We urge the public to help us safeguard the community.”
