Appointments Committee to Vet Mahama Ayariga on Thursday
Mahama Ayariga will appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on August 27 for vetting as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

Parliament’s Appointments Committee will vet Majority Leader and Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayariga, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following his nomination as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The vetting is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at Committee Rooms 1 and 2 of the Administration Block at Parliament House in Accra.
Mr Ayariga is replacing Banda MP Ahmed Ibrahim, who has been reassigned as Minister for Works and Housing.
In a letter to the nominee, the committee congratulated him on his nomination and said the exercise would be conducted in accordance with Parliament’s Standing Order 217.
Ahead of the vetting, Mr Ayariga has been directed to submit copies of his curriculum vitae, signed on every page, as well as a Tax Clearance Certificate from the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The documents are to be submitted to the Governance Cluster Secretariat at the Job 600 Annex Building by Tuesday, August 26, 2026. He is also required to submit a soft copy of his CV electronically to the Appointments Committee.
The committee further indicated that security clearance has been obtained for up to 20 guests to observe the vetting. Mr Ayariga is therefore expected to submit the names and positions of the guests alongside the other required documents.
