Residents of Kronom in in the Afigya Kwabre South of the Ashanti Region have voiced growing concern over a recent surge in armed robbery incidents in the area, prompting swift action from the Ashanti Regional Police.

On Thursday, 12th February 2026, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, appeared on the Lawson TV Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with host Kwame Tanko to address the concerns.

DSP Ahianyo assured the public that the police are fully committed to “crushing” the armed robbers and restoring a sense of security in Kronom and other areas in the Ashanti Region.

He noted that while some thugs are using motorbikes to move through the community, giving the impression of widespread insecurity, most residents continue with their daily activities without incident.

“Crime rates in the Ashanti Region are minimal compared to past years,” DSP Ahianyo said.

“We have the men and the resources ready to go after these criminals. The police are always here for the people.”

He urged citizens to remain security-conscious, advising them to keep trusted friends and relatives informed of their movements.

DSP Ahianyo encouraged residents who have been victims of robbery or any crime to report to the police promptly to ensure swift action.
