“I’m Going to Court; Let Raymond Archer Come and Arrest Me” – Baffour Awuah Dares EOCO Boss

Manhyia South Member of Parliament and lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah says he will appear in court despite being declared wanted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

The lawyer, who is representing Salomey Baffoe, said he would not be intimidated by the threat of arrest and is prepared to face EOCO when he goes to court.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express, Baffour Awuah challenged EOCO boss Raymond Archer to arrest him if he believes he has committed an offence.

“Tomorrow I’m going to court. Raymond should arrest me. My brother, I am ready. He has power. He thinks that he can abuse the power today. It is okay.”

Baffour Awuah said his training as a lawyer requires him to be bold and courageous, particularly when defending vulnerable clients.

He argued that his intervention in Salomey Baffoe’s case was aimed at protecting what he described as the fundamental human rights of a poor woman from Techiman Hansua who has three young children.

The MP accused Mr Archer and EOCO of abusing state power and questioned the legal basis for the actions taken against him.

He also defended individuals who allegedly helped him avoid what he described as an attempted abduction, arguing that assisting someone to escape an alleged unlawful act could not itself be unlawful.

“If people assist me to avoid being abducted, that certainly cannot be unlawful,” he said.

Baffour Awuah further alleged that an EOCO official assaulted his colleague, Afuaqua, during the incident, leaving him with a bruised eye.

He said Afuaqua had been advised to lodge a formal complaint over the alleged assault.

Despite the controversy, the lawyer insisted that the situation would not stop him from representing Salomey Baffoe.

“When I am defending a poor person, I do it wholeheartedly. And so this is not going to cow me until I see my client out.”

He added that he remained confident in the face of the development, saying he was convinced that his actions were in defence of a vulnerable person.

“I dwell in the shadows of the Almighty. I’m clear in my mind that I’m secured and fortified by the Most High God. Nothing, nobody will prevail against me so long as, particularly, I’m fighting for the poor,” he added.
