Gov’t Declares Monday, September 21 As Public Holiday

The government has declared Monday, September 21, 2026, as a statutory public holiday to mark Founder’s Day.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of the Interior in a statement signed by the sector Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak.
The day is observed annually to honour Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and a key figure in the country’s independence struggle.
The Ministry has therefore urged the general public to observe Monday, September 21, as a public holiday across the country.
