GAF To Hand Over Accra–Kumasi Expressway Right-of-Way Clearance Today
GAF engineers cleared 175.6km of the expressway corridor in 19 weeks, paving the way for the next phase of the major road project.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will today, Monday, September 14, 2026, formally hand over the cleared right-of-way for the Accra–Kumasi Expressway Project.
President John Dramani Mahama will serve as Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Ejisu Kwaso in the Ashanti Region.
The event is being organised by the Ministry of Roads and Highways in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces following the successful completion of the corridor-clearing exercise by GAF engineers.
The engineers cleared 175.6 kilometres of the right-of-way in 19 weeks, completing the task one week ahead of the original 20-week schedule.
The proposed six-lane dual carriageway will pass through parts of the Greater Accra, Eastern and Ashanti regions.
The Accra–Kumasi Expressway is a flagship project under the government’s Big Push Infrastructure Programme and is expected to reduce travel time between Accra and Kumasi, ease congestion, improve road safety and boost economic activity along the corridor.
The formal handover is expected to pave the way for the next phase of the project, including the finalisation of detailed designs and procurement of contractors for the main construction works.
