GNFS Retrieves Lifeless Body of Man from Open Drain at Wa SSNIT Residence

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has retrieved the lifeless body of a man in his late 30s from a water-filled open drain at the SSNIT Residence in Wa, Upper West Region.
The deceased, identified as Eric Adams, was discovered floating in the drainage system on Sunday, September 6, 2026, opposite Frimps Oil Filling Station.
The Wa Municipal Fire Station received a distress call from D/PW/C Inspector Diana Anaaba following the discovery.
A seven-member rescue team was subsequently dispatched to the scene, where firefighters entered the drainage system and successfully retrieved the body.
The remains were later handed over to the Police for further investigation.
Family members from Woggu who arrived at the scene subsequently identified the deceased as Eric Adams.
The circumstances surrounding how Adams ended up in the drainage system remain unclear. The Police are expected to investigate the incident and determine the events that led to his death.
