The campaign trail of New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK), took an unexpected turn in the Ashanti Region when delegates interrupted his campaign address and declared that they had already made their decision.

The delegates, who were gathered to engage with JFK as part of his campaign ahead of the NPP’s national executive elections, reportedly stopped him midway through his speech and expressed their support for his bid to retain the General Secretary position.

In a show of solidarity, the delegates declared: “No more campaign, we’ve decided!”

They indicated that, in their view, JFK’s record in office had already made the case for his re-election, making further campaign promises unnecessary.

The delegates subsequently joined hands in prayer for the General Secretary, committing his candidature and the journey ahead into the hands of God.

The gesture was met with enthusiasm among supporters and was seen as a strong demonstration of grassroots backing for the incumbent General Secretary, particularly in the Ashanti Region, a key stronghold of the NPP.

JFK has been touring constituencies and engaging delegates as he seeks another term as the party’s chief administrator. His campaign has focused on strengthening party structures, promoting unity and mobilising the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The spontaneous prayer session also underscored the role of faith and unity in the campaign, with delegates expressing their desire for a peaceful and successful national executive election.

The NPP’s national elections are scheduled for October 3, 2026, when delegates will elect officers to lead the party into its next phase.

For the Ashanti delegates who participated in the engagement, however, the message appeared clear: they believe JFK’s performance has already earned their support, and their decision has been made.
