Some constituency officers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the Greater Accra Region have picked nomination forms on behalf of former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Sam Pyne, as he seeks to contest the position of First National Vice-Chairperson of the NPP.
The delegation visited the party’s national headquarters on Thursday morning to secure the nomination documents, amid expressions of enthusiasm and confidence in Mr. Pyne’s bid. The forms are expected to be formally presented to him at his residence.

Hon. Sam Pyne, a former Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), is officially entering the race for the influential national executive position as the NPP prepares to reorganize its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
A Longstanding Party Stalwart
Mr. Pyne is widely regarded by party colleagues as a committed and experienced NPP activist whose political career spans several decades.
He began his political journey in 1992, serving in various organizational and operational roles, progressing from the polling station level to the electoral area level.
He later served multiple terms as Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, where he gained extensive experience in party administration, organizational management and electoral strategy.
His public service career was further strengthened by his tenure as Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, where he acquired significant experience in local governance, executive leadership and public administration.
Academic and Professional Background
Hon. Sam Pyne has an academic background that includes studies at St. Augustine’s College and Wesley College of Education.
He also pursued higher education at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), University of Cape Coast (UCC), and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
His areas of academic and professional interest include governance and sustainable development, local governance, and educational leadership.
Vision for the NPP
A seasoned party strategist, Mr. Pyne has over the years played a role in training party communicators and campaign officers during major election cycles.
His campaign for the First National Vice-Chairperson position is expected to focus on strengthening the party’s administrative and organizational capacity at both the national and grassroots levels.
Among his key priorities are:
- Executive Synergy: Providing effective administrative support to the National Chairman and the broader national executive team.
- Grassroots Restructuring: Strengthening local party structures and ensuring that constituency-level positions are fully functional and adequately resourced.
- Electoral Strategy: Promoting greater internal cohesion and improving the party’s preparedness for the 2028 general elections.
Sam Pyne Welcomes Support
Reacting to the development while on a campaign tour of the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions, Mr. Pyne expressed appreciation to the Greater Accra constituency officers for their show of confidence.
“It is incredibly heartening to see party faithfuls who share this vision step forward on their own initiative to pick up my nomination forms. This gesture from our Greater Accra colleagues demonstrates strong cross-regional support, and I am fully prepared to lead, win, and help position the NPP to recapture political power in 2028,” Hon. Sam Pyne stated.
Mr. Pyne is expected to submit his nomination forms personally in the coming days as he continues his nationwide campaign tour.
He will use the tour to engage delegates, outline his vision for the party and seek their support as the NPP prepares for its next phase of national leadership.
