Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North and Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on Sanitation, Water Resources and Water, John Kwabena Bless Oti, has called for greater collaboration to address Ghana’s recurring flooding, stressing that the country must focus more on prevention than emergency response.

Speaking in Parliament, the MP said tackling floods requires the collective efforts of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), traditional authorities, the private sector, and the general public. He urged all stakeholders to work together to improve sanitation, protect waterways, and reduce flood risks.

Mr. Bless Oti commended the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana National Fire Service, the security agencies, the National Ambulance Service, local assemblies, and volunteers for their swift response and support to communities affected by the recent floods.

He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to working with relevant institutions to promote cleaner communities, strengthen sanitation enforcement, safeguard waterways, and build a more resilient nation against future flooding.
