Doctors at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital have suspended their strike following successful talks with hospital management over tensions in the Central Laboratory.
The decision was announced by the Korle Bu Doctors Association (KODA) in a notice dated Monday, May 4, 2026, just hours after doctors had withdrawn Out-Patient Department (OPD) services.
The suspension follows a meeting between the association and management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where assurances were reportedly given to resolve ongoing disagreements between laboratory physicians and medical laboratory scientists.
KODA explained that the suspension was necessary to allow laboratory physicians to return to work and restore smooth cooperation within the Central Laboratory.
The association stressed that effective collaboration between both professional groups is essential for maintaining quality healthcare delivery at the facility.
Doctors have been instructed to resume OPD services from Tuesday, May 5, 2026, bringing relief to patients who were affected by the earlier disruption in services.
The strike had led to interruptions in outpatient care due to unresolved tensions over laboratory operations and professional responsibilities.
KODA reaffirmed its commitment to patient safety and maintaining high professional standards within the hospital.
