One person has died following a road crash at Gomoa Ankamu near Apam Junction in the Central Region, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.
According to the Apam Fire Station, the incident occurred on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at about 6:40 p.m., after a distress call reported a serious collision at the scene.
Firefighters responding to the accident found that a Kia Picanto with registration number GW 8314-21 had collided with a Hyundai Rhino truck bearing registration number GJ 823-21.
During rescue efforts, one occupant trapped inside the Kia Picanto was carefully removed and handed over to the National Ambulance Service. The victim was rushed to St. Luke Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

An eyewitness account indicated that the two vehicles were moving in opposite directions when the crash occurred. The Hyundai Rhino truck, reportedly heading towards Winneba, attempted to overtake at high speed but lost control and collided head-on with the Kia Picanto, which was travelling towards Cape Coast.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The GNFS has reiterated its call for motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially when overtaking, to reduce preventable road accidents.
