The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of becoming increasingly intolerant of dissenting views.

At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, April 15, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua claimed that the John Dramani Mahama-led administration has shown little willingness to accept criticism, despite being in office for less than two years. He argued that such a posture poses a threat to democratic governance.

According to Mr Kodua, the government has become dismissive of opposing opinions, insisting that freedom of expression and respect for constitutional rule are essential to Ghana’s democracy. He urged the administration to reassess its approach to governance and engagement with critics.

He further alleged that President Mahama’s government is exhibiting autocratic tendencies, warning of what he described as a growing clampdown on dissenting voices.
