The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 50 Nigerian nationals in a dawn swoop at McCarthy Hills, located in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The operation, carried out on Thursday, July 24, 2025, was prompted by credible intelligence indicating suspected human trafficking and cybercrime activities.

According to a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, the raid targeted foreign nationals believed to be residing in Ghana illegally. Some of the individuals are suspected to have been trafficked into the country and subsequently forced into internet fraud schemes by their handlers.

Among those apprehended was the landlord of the residence believed to be the central hub for the illicit operations.

The GIS assured the public that thorough investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the trafficking and cybercrime network. Authorities promised to provide further updates as new findings emerge.
