The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened the WAEC portal for Junior High School (JHS) heads to upload candidates’ school choices for the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

According to a directive issued on Monday, August 24, 2026, the portal will remain open from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, for schools to capture and upload candidates’ school selection data.

The exercise forms part of preparations for the placement of 2026 BECE candidates into senior high schools and other second-cycle institutions.

GES directed headteachers who had not completed the pre-testing of candidates’ school choices on the CSSPS portal to do so before capturing and uploading the data onto the WAEC portal.

The Service said the WAEC portal allows schools to use the same username and password simultaneously on multiple computers, enabling institutions with large numbers of candidates to process the data more efficiently.

Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, together with Examination Coordinators, have been tasked to supervise and monitor the exercise to ensure all eligible candidates are properly captured, verified and submitted within the stipulated deadline.

Regional Directors of Education have also been directed to communicate the directive to all relevant schools and ensure strict compliance.
