The family of Salomey Awiti Baffoe has expressed immense joy and relief following the court’s decision to grant her bail after about three weeks in custody in connection with the controversial Ghana Jollof case.

The Adenta Circuit Court on Monday, October 5, 2026, granted Salomey bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, both of whom must be civil servants earning at least GH¢3,000 per month. She is also required to report to the Hansua Police Station in the Bono East Region every two weeks.

Salomey, a 40-year-old senior nurse and mother of three, was arrested on September 13, 2026, at her residence in Hansua, near Techiman, over allegations that she was an accomplice to TikToker Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as Ghana Jollof.

The police have alleged that Salomey played a role in helping to produce and circulate content linked to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account. She is facing a charge of abetment of crime, to wit publication of false news. Salomey has not been convicted, and the allegations against her remain before the court.

For her family, however, the past three weeks have been extremely difficult.

Speaking after the bail decision, relatives said they had been waiting anxiously for Salomey’s release because they believe she had done nothing wrong.

They said the uncertainty surrounding her detention had affected the entire household, with some family members struggling to eat or sleep as they waited for news about her.

One of the most painful aspects, they said, was the impact of her absence on her three children.

According to the family, the children repeatedly asked for their mother, leaving relatives struggling to explain why she was not at home.

They expressed relief that the children could now stop crying for their mother and return to school with some sense of normalcy.

“We are very happy. We have been waiting for the past three weeks because we know she hasn’t done anything bad,” a family member said.

The relative added that the family had been deeply distressed throughout the period, saying they could neither eat nor sleep properly because of the uncertainty surrounding Salomey’s situation.

Another family member simply expressed gratitude to God for the development.

“We thank God for her release,” the relative said.

Salomey’s case has attracted significant public attention since her arrest, particularly because of her status as a mother of three and the circumstances surrounding her initial detention.

Her lawyer, Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, welcomed the bail decision, while the court adjourned the case to February 17, 2027, for further proceedings.

The family is now looking forward to Salomey’s return home and what they describe as a much-needed reunion with her children, while the legal process continues.
