Two Foreigners Arrested Over Alleged Kidnapping, Murder of Senegalese Goalkeeper in Kumasi
Police say the two suspects allegedly operated as football scouts and played roles in luring Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Toure to Ghana before his death.

Two foreign nationals have been arrested in the Ashanti Region in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Toure.
The suspects have been identified as 32-year-old Nigerien national Salifu Walid and 24-year-old Burkinabe national Aziz Wadrago Mane.
Police arrested the two on September 20, 2026, at a hideout in Bampenase, near Mamponteng, following months of intelligence-led investigations into Toure’s death.
Toure’s body was reportedly abandoned at the Manhyia District Government Hospital in Kumasi on October 16, 2025, by three unidentified men believed to be foreign nationals.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 23, the Head of the Police Public Affairs Department, Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, said the arrests were carried out by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU) of the Police Headquarters in collaboration with the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in the Ashanti Region.
According to the police, the two suspects were members of a four-man group allegedly operating under the guise of football scouting agents.
Investigators said the group allegedly used online platforms and personal contacts to lure unsuspecting individuals to Ghana with promises of football opportunities.
Police said the suspects admitted during interrogation that they played roles in luring Toure to Ghana and allegedly mentioned another suspect, Noukoubri Arzouma Sylviain, also known as Prince Pierre.
Sylviain is currently wanted by the police and is believed to have played a key role in the alleged cross-border operation.
Another foreign national, identified only as Barry, is also being sought by investigators.
Police have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding Toure’s alleged kidnapping or how he died, saying investigations are ongoing to establish the full details of the case.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command says efforts have been intensified to arrest the two suspects still at large and identify any other persons linked to the alleged crime.
Salifu Walid and Aziz Wadrago Mane remain in police custody and are expected to be put before court as investigations continue.
