Three Arrested Over Lynching of Man at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested and arraigned three suspects in connection with the alleged lynching and murder of Yusuf Zakari at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi.

According to the Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred in the early hours of July 19, 2026, when the victim was allegedly attacked by a group of people at a cattle kraal in Sabon Zongo.

Yusuf Zakari sustained severe injuries during the assault and was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital for treatment. He was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following swift investigations, police arrested three suspects identified as Moses Adoko, 37, a plumber; Abubakari Adams, 25, a herdsman; and Nurudeen Suleman, 35, a motor mechanic.

The suspects have since been arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Mrs. Hilder Esther Wryter.

The court remanded all three suspects into police custody. They are expected to reappear before the court on August 7, 2026.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command says investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals who may have been involved in the incident.

Police have also cautioned the public against taking the law into their own hands, urging residents to report suspected criminal activities through the appropriate legal channels.

The Command appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station or contact the Police emergency numbers 18555 (MTN toll-free), 191, or 112.

The Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that everyone connected to the incident is arrested and prosecuted through the due process of law.
