The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced that the existing car park at Terminal 3 of the Accra International Airport (AIA) will be closed to the public from Monday, July 20, 2026, to make way for a major redevelopment project.
The closure is part of plans to construct a seven-storey multi-purpose car park and airport hotel complex, aimed at expanding and modernising the airport’s infrastructure to meet increasing passenger demand.
In a statement, GACL said the current Terminal 3 car park will remain inaccessible throughout the construction period.
To reduce disruption, the company has completed the Terminal 3 Car Park Annex, which has the capacity to accommodate more than 600 vehicles and will serve passengers, visitors and airport staff during the transition.
GACL assured airport users that parking attendants will be stationed at the new facility to assist motorists and direct traffic efficiently.
The company appealed to travellers, airport workers and visitors to cooperate with officials as the relocation takes effect.
According to GACL, the new multi-purpose facility will significantly increase parking capacity while providing additional services to support the continued growth of passenger traffic at the Accra International Airport.
The company also appealed for patience and understanding from the public as construction work progresses.
