Newcastle United have agreed a £55 million fee with Nottingham Forest for Swedish winger Anthony Elanga, BBC Sport understands.
The deal could be finalised later this week as Newcastle look to bolster their attacking options ahead of their return to the Champions League. The Magpies finished fifth in the Premier League last season, securing a place in Europe’s top competition.
Elanga, 23, enjoyed an impressive 2024–25 campaign under Nuno Espirito Santo, registering six goals and 11 assists for Forest. His performances have drawn widespread praise and elevated his profile across the league.
The winger joined Forest from Manchester United in July 2023 for a reported £15 million, signing a five-year deal. Having joined United’s academy at the age of 12, he made 55 senior appearances before his move to the City Ground.
So far this summer, Newcastle have made just one addition—18-year-old Spanish winger Antonio Cordero, who arrived on a free transfer from Málaga. Elanga would become their first major signing of the transfer window.
