Gov’t Revises Bawku, Nalerigu Curfews — Weapons Ban Still Enforced

The Ministry of the Interior, acting on recommendations from the National Security Council, has announced a review of curfew hours in Bawku and Nalerigu townships and their surrounding areas.

Effective Thursday, July 31, 2025, the new curfew will run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., replacing the earlier hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The revised directive affects the Bawku Municipality in the Upper East Region and East Mamprusi Municipality in the North East Region.

In its statement, the government appealed to traditional leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm and use peaceful methods to address any grievances. The Ministry also reminded the public that a ban on arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons remains in effect in the affected areas. Violators will face arrest and prosecution.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region and called on all stakeholders to assist in maintaining order.
