Six students of Offinso Technical Institute (OTI) have been hospitalised after a violent clash erupted between students and some suspected youth from a nearby Zongo community on the school campus on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

The incident reportedly occurred just hours after Eid prayers in the Offinso township.

A teacher at the school, who spoke in an interview on condition of anonymity, disclosed that tensions between the students and the Zongo youth had existed for some time and may have triggered the confrontation.

The injured students are currently receiving treatment at St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase.

According to the teacher, several other students fled the campus during the chaos and were yet to be accounted for at the time of filing the report.

The attackers are also alleged to have caused extensive damage to school property.

“The suspected angry Zongo boys destroyed glass windows, doors and other property at both the boys’ and girls’ dormitories, as well as the housemaster’s residence,” the teacher stated.

Management of the school has since lodged an official complaint with the police.

Meanwhile, school authorities and leaders of the Zongo community have reportedly engaged in discussions aimed at restoring calm and preventing further violence.
