Six Arrested Over Alleged Murder of Tricycle Rider at Zuarungu

Six suspects have been arrested after a 26-year-old tricycle rider was allegedly attacked and beaten following a dispute over sales.

Police in the Upper East Region have arrested six suspects in connection with the alleged murder of 26-year-old tricycle rider Akolbila Blessing at Dulugu-Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga East District.

According to the police, the suspects allegedly attacked and assaulted Blessing following a dispute over sales from the tricycle he was operating.

The suspects have been identified as Avandiba Atubiga Kante, 26; Atua Atombire Mpika, 40; Amale Nyaaba Nicholas, 30; Atua Ayinbotima, 22; Atuah Nsobila Prosper, 21; and Ayine Albert Sunday, 39.

Police preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on August 27, 2026, after Blessing allegedly failed to make sales to the owner of the tricycle, Mpika.

The disagreement reportedly escalated into an attack, during which the victim was allegedly beaten by the six suspects.

Blessing was reportedly found unconscious in his room the following day and rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police say investigations are ongoing to establish the individual roles of the suspects and the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.

The Upper East Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against using violence to settle disputes, urging people to report disagreements to the appropriate authorities for peaceful and lawful resolution.
