Ramadan 2026 Moon Sighting Set for February 18 – Chief Imam’s Office
The Office of the National Chief Imam says crescent moon for Ramadan 2026 will be sighted on February 18, with fasting to begin February 19 or 20 depending on observation results

- The Office of the National Chief Imam has scheduled the crescent moon sighting for Ramadan 2026 on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
- If the moon is sighted that evening, Thursday, February 19, will mark the first day of Ramadan
- Regional representatives will submit verified sightings to the Chief Imam
The Office of the National Chief Imam has announced that the crescent moon for Ramadan 2026 is expected to be sighted on Wednesday, February 18.
This corresponds to the 29th day of Sha’ban on the Islamic calendar, following the traditional moon sighting practice.
If the crescent moon is observed that evening, Thursday, February 19, 2026, will mark the first day of Ramadan. However, if the moon is not sighted, Thursday will complete 30 days of Sha’ban, and fasting will begin on Friday, February 20, 2026.
The announcement was made during the 32nd Annual National Ramadan Conference held in Takoradi.
