Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Robbery Suspect Following Swift Response in Asokore Mampong

A 19-year-old robbery suspect is in custody after a night patrol team from the Ashanti Regional Police Command intervened during an attack at Asabi in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
According to an official police statement released on Wednesday, July 22, patrol officers received a distress call at approximately 12:20 a.m. on July 21, reporting that a man had been robbed and left unconscious near the Presbyterian Church at Asabi.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Ahmed Mustapha, who attempted to evade capture by hiding in a nearby uncompleted building. Officers pursued and apprehended him shortly after.
“A search conducted on him led to the retrieval of the complainant’s mobile phone and a machete, both of which have been retained as exhibits,” the police statement confirmed.
The victim suffered serious machete wounds to his forehead, neck, and left hand during the assault. He was rushed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police officers visited the victim at the hospital later that morning. Medical staff confirmed he had regained consciousness and remains in stable condition under observation.
