A 16-year-old student opened fire at a high school in the southern Philippines on Friday, killing two students and injuring eight others before taking his own life.
The victims were both 14-year-old students at Banga National High School in Banga, in the province of Mindanao, according to local mayor Albert Palencia.
Palencia told the BBC that four of the injured students were in critical condition.
The Department of Education said it was “deeply concerned” about the shooting, which occurred on Friday afternoon at the school.
The incident is reportedly the third deadly school shooting in the Philippines since June this year.
