NPP Nasara Wing Condemns Owusu Bempah Over Alleged Attack Claims

The Nasara Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has condemned recent comments attributed to Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah, alleging that some leading members of the party planned to use members of the wing to attack his church.
The Ashanti Regional Nasara Wing described the allegation as false and distasteful, insisting that it does not reflect the values or purpose of the organisation.
In a statement signed by Razak Abubakar, Ashanti Regional Nasara Coordinator, the group said the allegation was particularly troubling because the Nasara Wing was established to mobilise support among settler and migrant communities and promote their participation in Ghana’s political process.
The statement accused Prophet Owusu Bempah of making comments that could fuel religious and tribal divisions in the country.
“It is our considered view that Prophet Owusu Bempah is on a crusade to create divisions in our society along religious and tribal lines,” the statement said.
Nasara Wing Demands Retraction
The group said the allegation that its members could be mobilised to attack a place of worship was an affront to the thousands of people associated with the Nasara Wing.
It stressed that the organisation represents unity in diversity and includes members from various settler communities, irrespective of their religious affiliation.
The Nasara Wing therefore demanded that Prophet Owusu Bempah retract the allegation and issue an unqualified apology to the wing and the NPP.
It warned that failure to do so would compel the group to explore what it described as “all legitimate options” to protect the image and integrity of its leadership and members.
Clarification on Nasara Wing
The group also rejected what it described as the portrayal of the Nasara Wing as exclusively a Muslim organisation.
According to the statement, the wing is intended to represent settler communities, including Christians and members of other religious groups.
It maintained that its members remain committed to peaceful political participation and national cohesion.
Call on Church Bodies
The Ashanti Regional Nasara Wing further called on major Christian bodies, including the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Christian Council of Ghana and Catholic Bishops’ Conference, as well as other ecumenical organisations, to speak against what it described as divisive rhetoric.
The group urged religious leaders to ensure that the pulpit is not used to promote tribal or religious bigotry.
It also reaffirmed its political support for NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that it remained confident that Ghanaians across religious and ethnic backgrounds would support him in the 2028 general elections.
