President John Mahama has cautioned the security services against the misuse of state resources, emphasizing that his administration will not accept waste, indiscipline, or the abuse of assets meant to safeguard the nation.
The warning was issued on Thursday, January 8, during a ceremony at the Police Headquarters where the President presented 100 pickup vehicles to the Ghana Police Service to enhance its operational capacity.
President Mahama stressed that all resources allocated to the security sector must produce tangible and measurable benefits for the Ghanaian people.
“We will not tolerate misuse, waste, or indiscipline. Every resource provided for national security must deliver real value to the people of Ghana,” he stated.
While reiterating his government’s resolve to strengthen the security services through sustained investment, the President underscored that such support must be matched by professionalism, discipline, and accountability.
“As we build capacity, we are equally focused on professionalism and accountability,” he added.
He further noted that strengthening national security goes beyond the provision of equipment and logistics, and must include responsible stewardship of public resources, ethical conduct, and strict discipline within the services.
President Mahama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting public assets and ensuring that investments in national security result in improved public safety and long-term national stability.
