MTN Ghana has been recognised as the fastest mobile network in Ghana and the provider of the best fixed network in both Ghana and West Africa, after sweeping three prestigious awards at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.
The company earned the titles of Fastest Mobile Network in Ghana, Best Fixed Network in Ghana, and Best Fixed Network in West Africa at the Ookla Speedtest Awards. These recognitions are based on independent data from millions of real user tests conducted via Speedtest by Ookla, a globally trusted benchmark for measuring internet performance.
MTN Ghana achieved a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 67.16, outperforming competitors across the region, including operators in Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria. This performance places the company among a select group of top-performing network providers globally.
Commenting on the achievement, CEO Stephen Blewett said the awards reflect the company’s continued investment in building faster and more reliable network infrastructure.
“These recognitions highlight our commitment to delivering quality connectivity. A strong network is essential for expanding digital access, supporting economic growth, and driving Africa’s development,” he noted, adding that ongoing expansion of network sites is aimed at improving service quality for customers.
Chief Technology Officer Reuben Opata also praised the team’s efforts, reaffirming the company’s dedication to enhancing customer experience through consistent and high-quality connectivity.
The Ookla Speedtest Awards are widely regarded as one of the telecom industry’s most credible benchmarks, measuring performance based on speed, coverage, consistency, and overall user experience using real customer data.
These accolades underscore MTN Ghana’s sustained investment in network expansion and modernisation, including upgrades to infrastructure and engineering systems nationwide.
Looking ahead, the company plans to intensify its investment efforts. During a recent visit to Ghana, Ralph Mupita announced a US$1.1 billion investment over the next three years to further strengthen infrastructure and enhance service delivery.
MTN Ghana says it remains committed to providing reliable connectivity that supports Ghana’s economic growth and contributes to Africa’s digital transformation.
