President John Dramani Mahama has used this year’s Workers’ Day celebration to commend Ghanaian workers while assuring them of improved incomes as his government shifts focus toward economic expansion and job creation.
In a May Day message themed “Beyond Stability: Building the New Ghana,” the President said his administration has achieved macroeconomic stability under the #ResettingGhana agenda and is now entering a new phase focused on accelerated growth.
He explained that the initial stage of governance prioritised stabilising the economy, while the next phase will concentrate on expanding opportunities that directly enhance workers’ earnings and living standards.
“We are not just managing the economy; we are expanding it to ensure that every worker feels the benefit in their pocket,” he said.
President Mahama praised Ghanaian workers for their resilience and vital role in national development, describing them as key drivers of the country’s transformation despite recent economic challenges.
He added that government’s renewed strategy will focus on productivity, economic growth, and job creation to ensure that national progress translates into real benefits for citizens.
He concluded by extending May Day greetings to workers nationwide, calling them “the engines of our national transformation.”
