A team of enterprising students from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has emerged victorious in the MTN Business Pitch Challenge held during AshantiFest 2026, with their startup, Nalop Technologies, clinching the ultimate prize.
The youth-led freelance web development studio, founded by Level 200 Computer Science students, outperformed four other innovative startups—Vynix Tech, AgriHub, AgriFirmex, and PayAlert—to secure the top spot.
Their winning edge came from an impressive showcase of their flagship innovation, NOLAP Prep, an AI-powered exam preparation platform designed to transform the academic experience for students.
NOLAP Prep offers tailored AI-generated practice questions, allows users to upload and integrate personal study materials, and provides detailed performance analytics to track academic progress. The platform is already gaining traction, actively supporting students across Ghana.
For their outstanding performance, Nalop Technologies was awarded GH¢30,000 in seed funding, along with MTN gift packages and souvenirs to support the growth of their solution.
PayAlert placed second, followed by AgriHub, AgriFirmex, and Vynix Tech in that order.
Speaking at the event, Eric Antwi, Sales Manager for MTN Ghana’s Northern Business District, underscored the broader impact of the initiative, describing it as a catalyst for practical problem-solving and entrepreneurship.
He revealed that MTN’s SME-focused interventions have supported over 100,000 small businesses in the past three years, with particular emphasis on empowering women-led enterprises.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, also commended MTN Ghana for fostering innovation and connecting young entrepreneurs to vital economic opportunities.
Founder of Nalop Technologies, Mortoti-Agogyi Jephthah Lorlornyo, expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for the recognition, noting that the prize money will be strategically invested to enhance the NOLAP Prep platform and expand its reach nationwide.
The MTN Business Pitch Challenge continues to stand as a key pillar in MTN Ghana’s drive to empower startups, offering mentorship, funding, and access to digital tools such as Ayoba, Chenosis, and MoMo to accelerate business growth in Ghana’s evolving digital economy.
