The Inspector‑General of Police (IGP) has ordered the temporary closure of the Kwame Danso Police Station and District Police Headquarters in the Sene West District of the Bono East Region following a violent mob attack.
According to police reports, the disturbances began around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, when an estimated group of about 100 youths stormed the Kwame Danso District Court during ongoing proceedings.
The mob vandalised court furniture and equipment, assaulted court officials and the complainant, and forcibly freed accused persons who were standing trial.
The unrest soon spread to the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, where the attackers assaulted two officers on duty and caused damage to parts of the station. A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Police Division, supported by the Formed Police Units (FPUs), was deployed to restore calm in the area.
In response to the violence, the IGP ordered the temporary shutdown of both the police station and court, with all personnel reassigned to other parts of the region for their safety while investigations continue.
Police have assured the public that they are pursuing all individuals involved in the attack and have pledged to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrators.
The closure is described as a precautionary measure to protect officers and staff as law enforcement works to reestablish secure operations and bring those responsible to justice.
