Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says his recent detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has only strengthened his determination to contest for the position of NPP National Communications Director.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 15, following his release, Aboagye thanked party supporters for standing by him throughout his detention, declaring that he remains resolute and ready to serve the NPP.

“I am out. I am unbroken. And I am more ready than ever. Thank you, patriots!” he stated.

According to Aboagye, he was arrested and detained by EOCO just a day after officially declaring his intention to contest for the party’s National Communications Director position.

He alleged that false narratives were circulated about the circumstances surrounding his arrest but expressed confidence that the truth would eventually emerge.

“Four days ago, just one day after I declared my intention to serve our great party as National Communications Director, I was picked up and detained by EOCO. A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail,” he said.

Responding to reports linking him to an alleged GH¢55 million matter, Aboagye insisted that EOCO never questioned him about such an amount.

“For the record, there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million with me by EOCO. None,” he stressed.

He also expressed appreciation to NPP members and supporters who staged protests and publicly demonstrated in solidarity with him during his detention, saying their support strengthened his resolve.

“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, and who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall. You did not just defend Dennis Miracles Aboagye; you defended the principle that no voice can be intimidated into silence,” he said.

Aboagye maintained that his detention had failed to intimidate him and reaffirmed his commitment to contesting for the communications portfolio of the party.

“Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that,” he stated.

He added that the experience had only made him more determined to pursue his political ambition and continue serving the party.
