President Mahama further urged Ghanaians to draw inspiration from the celebrated man of God, whose life continues to exemplify humility, consistency, vision, perseverance and unwavering faith in God.

The birthday celebration was marked by a series of activities, beginning with a blood donation exercise on Saturday, June 6, aimed at supporting healthcare delivery and saving lives.

The climax of the celebration on Sunday featured a thanksgiving service, special tributes, musical performances and the cutting of a unique birthday cake designed in the shape of a Holy Bible, symbolising Pastor Obeng’s lifelong commitment to the Christian faith.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Pastor Obeng expressed gratitude to God for His faithfulness throughout his life.

“God has been so good to me. I was a villager with little education, but when I availed myself to God, He used me. If God wants to use you, you must humble yourself before Him,” he said.

He recalled how she stood by him during difficult times when he had very little and believed in him when others may not have.

“My wife was very good to me. I was raw and had nothing, yet she chose to be with me. That is where I recognised the true love she had for me,” he recounted.

The revered pastor also disclosed that he has decided not to remarry as a sign of honour and respect for his late wife.
