Ashanti NDC Appeals Committee clears 14 candidates, disqualifies four, while five appeals remain pending

Kumasi, October 1, 2026 — The Ashanti Regional Appeals Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cleared 14 candidates to contest various regional party positions following the determination of their appeals.

A report issued by the Ashanti Regional Secretariat and dated October 1, 2026, indicates that the committee considered appeals from candidates seeking to contest positions across constituencies in the Ashanti Region.

Among those cleared to contest are Ali Seidu, who is seeking to become Deputy Organizer for Bosome Freho; Suzzy Addai, Deputy Women Organizer for Manso Adubia; Dauda Collins Alhaji, Youth Organizer for Kwadaso; and Augustina Amankwah, who is contesting for Vice Chairperson at Suame.

Other candidates cleared include Timothy Asaamah, Deputy Communications Officer for Ahafo Ano South West; Paul Owusu Opoku, Deputy Treasurer for Bosomtwe; Asare Evans, Deputy Communications Officer for Ahafo Ano North; and Mona Francis, contesting for the Other Youth position at Oforikrom.

The list also includes Barikisu Awudu Sumaila, Deputy Women Organizer for Suame; Kaakyire Wofa Kwaku Owusu, Executive Member for Atwima Nponua; Rafiq Saliu, Youth Organizer for Bosome Freho; Ahmed Opoku, Chairman for Nsuta Kwamang Beposo; Juliana Ofosuwaah, Deputy Women Organizer for Adansi Asokwa; and Sarpong Okumakuma Awenedia Diawuo, Chairman for Atwima Nwabiagya South.

Four Candidates Disqualified

The report further states that four candidates were disqualified after their appeals were heard, meaning they are not permitted to contest the elections.

Those disqualified are Afia Brayie, who was contesting for Women Organizer at Oforikrom; Eng. Kann Kwame Boamah, Chairman for Nhyiaeso; Frank Awuah Mensah, Organizer for Atwima Kwanwoma; and Atibepelɛ Ibrahim, Chairman for Fomina.

Five Appeals Still Pending

Meanwhile, the Appeals Committee has five cases still pending.

They are Sarah Asante, Deputy Women Organiser for Old Tafo; Ibrahim Al-Mubarak Salifu, Deputy Communication Officer for Mampong; Osman Ayishetu, Other Youth for Asante Akim North; Paul Tabi Boateng, Communications Officer for Offinso North; and Adom Saahene, Deputy Communication Officer for Ejisu.

The report was signed by Dr. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, identified in the document as Ashanti Regional Minister/Secretary.

The decisions are part of the internal appeals process ahead of the NDC’s regional elections, with the pending cases expected to remain subject to further determination by the appropriate party authorities.
