Akufo-Addo Assembles Transition Team for Power Handover
Experienced leaders to oversee the handover process in accordance with the Presidential Transition Act

- Inauguration set for December 11, 2024, co-chaired by President Akufo-Addo and President-elect Mahama

In compliance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced his government’s Transition Team to oversee a seamless transfer of executive authority to the incoming administration.
The team, composed of key government figures, includes:
- Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare – Chief of Staff (Team Co-Chairperson)
- Godfred Yeboah Dame – Attorney-General
- Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu – Minister for Parliamentary Affairs
- Hon. Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam – Minister of Finance
- Hon. Henry Quartey – Minister of the Interior
- Hon. Dominic Nitiwul – Minister of Defence
- Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey – Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah – Minister of Local Government
- Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah – Minister of National Security
Other prominent members include Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh (Head of Civil Service), Dr. Nana Ato Arthur (Head of Local Government Service), Ambassador Mercy Debrah-Karikari (Secretary to the Cabinet), and Edward Asomani (National Security Coordinator).
The Transition Team will officially be inaugurated on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in a joint meeting between President Akufo-Addo and President-elect John Dramani Mahama, who will serve as Co-Chairpersons. In the President’s absence, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare will assume the role of Co-Chairperson.
Additionally, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, former Speaker of Parliament, has been appointed to the Advisory Council, with current Speaker Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin as Chairperson.
President-elect Mahama has also named his side of the Transition Team, ensuring balanced representation. Both teams aim to foster governance stability during the handover.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of a smooth transition in bolstering Ghana’s democratic legacy, entrusting the team to maintain continuity and promote national unity.
