The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has launched the 2026 Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness Campaign in Ho in the Volta Region.
The campaign, launched at the GNAT Hall on October 2, is being held under the theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” with the sub-theme, “United for a Breast Cancer-Free Ghana: Early Detection, Early Action, Better Outcomes.”
The initiative seeks to raise public awareness about breast cancer and encourage women to undergo regular screening to improve the chances of early detection and treatment.
Speaking to the media after the launch, Dr Lartey stressed the need for sustained public education and regular screening as part of efforts to tackle breast cancer.
The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, also called for increased support for breast cancer survivors, urging them to share their experiences to inspire and encourage others affected by the disease.
He said survivors’ stories could provide hope and courage to people living with breast cancer while encouraging more women to take regular screening seriously.
Mr Gunu further urged the public and government to pay greater attention to the needs of survivors and support initiatives promoting awareness, early detection and treatment.
He encouraged women to make breast cancer screening a priority and include it as part of their routine health checks.
