“2028 Is Too Far” – Agbodza Orders Faster Work on Suame Interchange as Phase One Hits 5%

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has urged contractors working on the Suame Interchange Project to accelerate construction, saying the scheduled 2028 completion date is too far away.
Mr Agbodza made the call during a tour of the project, where he disclosed that Phase One of the interchange is currently about 5% complete.
He acknowledged that delays had been caused by issues including the rescoping of the project but said the way forward was now clear.
According to him, a crash programme should be introduced to tackle the most critical aspects of the project and ensure that different components are undertaken simultaneously where possible.
“Let’s speed up. 2028 is too far for us to do this, so let’s rush some of the things and see what we can do quickly,” he said.
Mr Agbodza also noted that work had progressed compared to his previous visit and said the current pace was sufficient to keep some aspects of the project on schedule.
However, he stressed that the interchange remains the biggest challenge and urged all stakeholders to improve coordination to accelerate its completion.
