Kennedy Agyapong Has Told Me “The Base Movement” Is Just a Rumour – Paul Afoko
Paul Afoko says Kennedy Agyapong remains committed to the NPP and has assured him of his support if he wins the National Chairmanship race.

New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant Paul Afoko says former presidential candidate Kennedy Agyapong has told him that the reported “Base Movement” is merely a rumour and should be ignored.
Mr Afoko, who is seeking to return to the NPP National Chairmanship for a second stint, said Mr Agyapong remains committed to the party and wants to see it regain power.
According to him, Mr Agyapong has assured him that he would work with him if he wins the NPP National Chairmanship election.
“Kennedy has told me the Base Movement is just a rumour and that I should let it pass,” Mr Afoko told Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio.
He described Mr Agyapong as a “true NPP patriot” whose focus is on helping the party win political power.
Mr Afoko said he was previously unhappy when some party members reportedly went to a National Council meeting carrying placards calling for Mr Agyapong to leave the party.
“I was angry the other time when some people went to the National Council meeting with placards saying ‘Ken must go’. We cannot win power with that,” he said.
He cautioned that internal divisions and attacks among party members could undermine the NPP’s efforts to rebuild and return to power.
“We are digging a hole if we do that,” he added.
Mr Afoko is contesting the NPP National Chairmanship position as the party prepares to elect its new national executives. He is listed as Number 3 on the ballot paper.
