Police Arrest ‘Aunty’ On Lawson TV Afisem for Allegedly Abusing 15-Year-Old House Help Over Unsold Coconut
A 15-year-old girl alleges that her aunty subjected her to beatings and prevented her from contacting her parents after taking her from Bawku at age six.

Police have arrested a woman for allegedly maltreating and abusing her 15-year-old house help, whom she reportedly brought from Bawku to live with her at the age of six.
The case was brought to public attention during Tuesday, 29 September, 2026 edition of Afisem Show on Lawson TV hosted by Maame Frimpomaa Korankye popularly known as MFK, where the teenage girl recounted her alleged experiences while speaking about the treatment she has received from her aunt.
The 15-year-old said her parents are living separately, with her father in Dormaa Ahenkro and her mother in Tamale. She alleged that she has not seen either of them since she was taken to live with her aunt at the age of six.
According to the girl, her aunt allegedly prevents her from seeing or speaking to her parents on the phone.
She further alleged that her aunt makes her sell coconut as part of her daily duties. She claimed that whenever she is unable to sell all the coconut, the woman gives her only GH¢1 to attend school.
However, on days when she manages to sell all the coconut, she alleged that she receives GH¢5 for school.
The teenager also alleged that her aunt physically abuses her whenever she returns home with unsold coconut.
She claimed that the woman uses a piece of banku to beat her as punishment for failing to sell all the coconut.
Following the allegations, the woman has been arrested by the police as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse and the welfare of the teenage girl.
