21 People Killed in South Africa Road Crash
Three vehicles collided on the N1 highway in the Western Cape, leaving 21 people dead and four others seriously injured.

At least 21 people have died in a major road crash on South Africa’s N1 highway in the Western Cape.
The crash occurred early Monday and involved three vehicles, including two minibus taxis and an SUV.
Police said 18 people died at the scene, while three others later died in hospital. Four other people sustained serious injuries.
The crash prompted authorities to close part of the N1 highway between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka, about 380 kilometres east of Cape Town.
Emergency teams responded to the scene as authorities began investigations into the cause of the crash.
The incident comes just a day after another major crash near Ermelo in Mpumalanga province claimed eight lives.
The two crashes have therefore killed at least 29 people across South Africa within two days.
Road safety remains a major concern in the country, with nearly 11,500 people reportedly dying in road accidents in 2025, according to South Africa’s Transport Ministry.
