Technology, Skills Key to Transforming Ghana’s Agriculture – Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah

Investment in agricultural development, coupled with the adoption of appropriate technology, remains one of the surest pathways for Ghana to transform its economy, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS), Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah, has said.
According to him, countries that have successfully developed their economies have largely built their progress on strong agricultural and industrial sectors. He therefore called for Ghana to embrace a modern approach to agricultural education, production and technology.
Professor Adom-Asamoah made the remarks yesterday when he led a three-member delegation from UEAS on a courtesy visit to the management of the New Times Corporation (NTC), publishers of The Ghanaian Times and The Spectator.
He stressed the importance of equipping the next generation of agricultural professionals with specialised skills and technological expertise to increase productivity, create jobs and drive sustainable economic growth.
The Vice Chancellor said stronger collaboration among educational institutions, industry and the media would also be critical to promoting innovation and transforming Ghana’s agricultural sector.
He noted that with strategic investment in technology, training and modern farming practices, agriculture could become a stronger engine of economic transformation and national development.
