19-Year-Old Pragyia Driver Who Allegedly Defrauded Female Bestie of GH¢30,000 for “Online Business” Not Jailed 20 Years; Ordered to Pay GH¢2,000 Monthly

A 19-year-old Pragyia driver who was arrested on the Lawson TV/Radio Afisem Show, hosted by Maame Frimpomaa Korankye, popularly known as MFK, over an alleged GH¢30,000 fraud case has not been sentenced to 20 years in prison, contrary to reports circulating on social media.

The young man became the subject of widespread public attention after appearing on the Afisem Show in connection with allegations that he defrauded his female best friend of GH¢30,000 in relation to an online business.

The case generated significant public interest and went viral, with many people following developments after the incident was discussed on the Lawson TV/Radio programme.

However, reports suggesting that the 19-year-old has been jailed for 20 years are false.

According to information available on the case, the suspect was granted bail on the same day he was arrested during the Lawson Afisem Show.

As part of the arrangement, authorities reportedly directed him to repay the GH¢30,000 in instalments of GH¢2,000 every month until the full amount is settled. He was also reportedly required to make an initial payment of GH¢3,000.

However, the young man has reportedly not yet paid the GH¢3,000 upfront amount.

The female complainant, who described the accused as her best friend, reportedly told the programme that the GH¢30,000 involved in the matter was money she had received from her uncle.

The clarification comes amid renewed public discussion of the case following the circulation of claims that the young man had been handed a 20-year prison sentence.

The viral nature of the original incident appears to have contributed to the spread of the unverified claim.

For now, the 20-year imprisonment claim should be disregarded, as the young man was granted bail on the day of his arrest and is reportedly under an arrangement to repay the alleged GH¢30,000.
