NPP Women’s Wing Cautions Owusu Bempah Over Attacks on Ayew Afriye and Bawumia

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Women’s Wing in the Ashanti Region has cautioned Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah over what it describes as continued attacks on the character of Effiduase-Asokore MP, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, and the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organizer, Beatrice Owusu, the group expressed concern about what it described as unwarranted attacks against the two NPP figures.
The Women’s Wing urged Prophet Owusu Bempah to refrain from what it considers attempts to tarnish the reputation of Dr Ayew Afriye, whom it described as a peaceful, disciplined and non-violent leader.
“As mothers and women of this party, we will not sit unconcerned while attempts are made to denigrate the personality and good name of our Member of Parliament, or that of our flagbearer, Dr Bawumia,” the statement said.
Women’s Wing Defends NPP Figures
The group said it had full confidence in the character and integrity of both Dr Ayew Afriye and Dr Bawumia, citing their respective records of public and political service.
It insisted that what it described as unfounded allegations would not weaken its support for the two politicians.
“We have full confidence in Dr Bawumia and Dr Ayew Afriye as two distinct personalities of integrity, good character and proven service to this nation,” the statement said.
The group added that it would continue to stand firmly behind both men.
Calls for Restraint
The Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing also reminded Prophet Owusu Bempah that his primary calling was to the pulpit and urged him to focus on his religious responsibilities.
It argued that Ghana faces several pressing national challenges that require the attention and prayers of religious leaders rather than what the group described as personal attacks on citizens.
The Women’s Wing called on the prophet to exercise restraint and respect the dignity of Dr Ayew Afriye and Dr Bawumia.
It further urged him to desist from conduct that could, in its view, damage the reputation of the two NPP personalities.
