Nine State Institutions Lose Boards as Mahama Orders Immediate Dissolution
President Mahama directs sector ministers to implement the changes as new boards are expected to be appointed.

President John Dramani Mahama has dissolved the boards of nine state institutions with immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the Presidency.
The affected institutions include Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), Ghana Post Company Limited, the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, TDC Ghana Limited, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), and the National Sports Authority.

The directive forms part of the government’s ongoing changes to the leadership of state-owned institutions.
According to the statement, relevant sector ministers have been directed to take all necessary steps, in accordance with applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution of the affected boards.
Boards to Be Reconstituted
The Presidency said the dissolved boards will be reconstituted in due course, although no specific timelines were provided for the appointment of new members.
The move affects institutions operating across key sectors, including petroleum storage and transportation, banking, mining, manufacturing, postal services, road infrastructure, housing and urban development, and sports.
The announcement was contained in a statement dated Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
