Valley View University Graduates 1,156 Students; 237 Receive Degrees at Kumasi Campus

A total of 1,156 students from Valley View University’s three campuses—Oyibi, Kumasi and Techiman—have graduated, with 237 graduates emerging from the Kumasi Campus as the University celebrated another milestone in its commitment to academic excellence, character development and service to humanity.

The graduation ceremony brought together the University’s leadership, government representatives, faculty and staff, parents, guardians, friends, well-wishers and other stakeholders to celebrate the academic accomplishments of the graduating class and reflect on the responsibilities that accompany higher education.

Addressing the graduates, the Vice-Chancellor of Valley View University, Professor Dr. Daniel Ganu, PhD, urged them to make integrity and excellence the foundation of their professional and personal lives as they transition from the University into the world of work and service.

Professor Ganu cautioned the graduates against pursuing success through shortcuts, stressing that academic qualifications alone are insufficient to guarantee meaningful and sustainable success. He said their certificates must be complemented by good character, professional competence, integrity, adaptability and a commitment to lifelong learning.

According to him, the rapidly changing nature of the global economy requires graduates to remain intellectually curious and willing to acquire new knowledge and skills throughout their careers. He particularly drew attention to the growing influence of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), urging the graduates to prepare themselves for emerging opportunities and challenges associated with technological transformation.

Professor Ganu noted that the world of work was changing rapidly and that graduates who want to remain relevant must be prepared to learn, unlearn and relearn as circumstances demand.

University to Introduce New Programmes

In line with the changing demands of the global economy and the need to equip students with relevant skills for the future, Professor Ganu announced that Valley View University would soon roll out a number of new academic programmes. The Vice-Chancellor said the programmes would broaden the University’s academic portfolio and provide prospective students with opportunities to pursue studies in emerging and strategically important fields.

The new programmes, which are expected to be introduced soon, include Law; Artificial Intelligence and Data Science; Cybersecurity; Digital Forensics; Business Analytics and Health Informatics; and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The introduction of these programmes, he explained, reflects the University’s responsiveness to emerging trends in education, technology, industry and national development. The programmes are expected to provide students with contemporary knowledge and practical competencies required to navigate an increasingly technology-driven global economy.

The emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Business Analytics and Health Informatics also demonstrates the University’s recognition of the growing importance of digital transformation and data-driven decision-making across virtually every sector of society.

The inclusion of Law and TVET further points to the University’s broader commitment to providing diverse educational pathways capable of responding to the professional, economic and developmental needs of Ghana and beyond.

The Rector of Valley View University, Kumasi Campus, Dr. Patricia Animah Nyamekye Frimpong, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to providing quality higher education grounded in the values and principles of the Seventh-day Adventist tradition.

She noted that the University’s educational philosophy extends beyond the acquisition of academic knowledge, placing emphasis on the holistic development of students, including character, spirituality, professional competence and service to society.

The ceremony also featured a call from the Regional Minister for graduates to recognise the sacrifices made by their parents and guardians throughout their educational journey and to honour those sacrifices through responsible living and meaningful contributions to national development. He urged the graduates to make their parents and guardians proud by demonstrating integrity in the decisions they make and excellence in whatever responsibilities they undertake.

The Regional Minister stressed that integrity must serve as their compass, guiding them in both their professional and personal lives.

He further challenged the graduates to reject mediocrity and pursue excellence in every endeavour, reminding them that education carries with it a responsibility to contribute to the advancement of society. He urged them to be ready to serve the nation and humanity, using the knowledge and skills acquired through their education to address societal challenges and improve the lives of others.

The Regional Minister also assured Valley View University of the government’s commitment to supporting institutions that contribute significantly to the development of Ghana’s human capital. He said the government, through the Ministry of Education, would continue to explore avenues for supporting tertiary institutions and addressing challenges confronting them as part of broader efforts to strengthen the country’s educational system.

He commended Valley View University for its contribution to human capital development and observed that the University was expanding rapidly, particularly its Kumasi Campus.

The Minister encouraged the University to sustain its growth while continuing to create opportunities for young people to access quality education and acquire the competencies required to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The graduation ceremony was therefore not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a reminder of the responsibilities graduates assume as educated citizens.

With 1,156 students graduating across the three campuses, Valley View University continues to position itself as an important institution in Ghana’s higher education landscape, producing graduates equipped with academic knowledge and encouraged to combine competence with character and service.

For the 237 graduates from the Kumasi Campus, the occasion marked the culmination of years of study, sacrifice, perseverance and personal development. Their graduation now opens a new chapter—one that calls for the practical application of their knowledge, continuous learning, ethical leadership and service to society.
