The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School following an alleged sexual assault involving a student.

The two suspects have been arrested and handed over to the Police as investigations continue.

According to the GES, the incident allegedly occurred while the student was receiving medical attention. Preliminary information indicates that the student, who has special needs and is on medication, had suffered a relapse on the day of the alleged incident.

The GES said the suspects were interdicted with immediate effect and will face appropriate sanctions under its Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana if found culpable.

The Service has also urged all staff to uphold professionalism and protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of students.
