The 1993 year group of Prempeh College has honoured the incoming Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Christian Agyare; Dr. Lawson Kyei Manu, Chief Executive Officer of Lawson Group of Companies; and eight other distinguished personalities for their outstanding achievements.
The event, held at Safari Gardens in Atasomanso on Saturday, was organised mainly to celebrate Professor Agyare ahead of his assumption of office as the new Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.
Professor Agyare becomes the first Prempeh College alumnus to be appointed Vice-Chancellor of KNUST.
Other personalities honoured at the ceremony included the Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Hon. Frank Yeboah; Headmaster of Prempeh College, Very Rev. Lewis Asare; Ashanti Regional Police Operations Commander, ACP Gordon Opoku-Koduah; ACP Bismarck Agyapong (Chief of Afari); Dr. Lawson Kyei Manu, CEO of Lawson Group of Companies; Solomon Anane, Ashanti Regional Manager for the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC); Deputy Ashanti Regional National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Nje Abdallah Umaru (also known as Alhaji Abubakar Nje); Soja-ba, Head of Department (HOD) of the Business Department at KNUST SHS; and one other distinguished personality.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Lawson News, the Legal Head of Lawson Media, Lawyer Opoku Francis, commended the awardees for their dedication and contributions to national development.
He further encouraged Ghanaian youth to develop their talents and pursue excellence, citing Dr. Lawson Kyei Manu as an example of someone who has used his entrepreneurial skills to create opportunities and impact lives.
The incoming KNUST Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare, expressed his appreciation to the organisers for the recognition.
He also appealed to Ghanaians to support him with prayers as he prepares to begin his new role as Vice-Chancellor.
Meanwhile, Ashanti Regional Police Operations Commander, ACP Gordon Opoku-Koduah, in an exclusive interview with Lawson News, encouraged Ghanaians to trust in God in their daily activities.
According to him, perseverance, dedication, and faith are key factors that eventually lead to success.
